WHERE AUSTIN MEETS
ANGERS
Every sister-city relationship begins with a signature. Ours has grown through people.
Since Austin and Angers became sister cities in 2011, the connection has come alive through visits, performances, meals, conversations, student projects, film screenings, business exchanges, civic programs, and friendships. What started as a formal city partnership has become a community of people who believe that culture is not something to observe from a distance — it is something to share.
Austin and Angers have a natural affinity. Both are creative, curious, and proudly local. Austin brings its music, technology, entrepreneurial energy, and open spirit. Angers brings its history, universities, Loire Valley culture, green innovation, cinema, and deep sense of place. Together, the two cities offer each other a window into new ways of living, working, creating, and connecting.
Austin Angers Sister Cities exists to keep that window open. Through cultural events, educational initiatives, civic exchange, and community partnerships, we help people discover France, Texas, and each other.
From our yearly Fête de la Musique in Austin, launched in 2023, to a civic ambassador program that gives a young Austinite the opportunity to spend a year representing our city in Angers, our work is focused on making the relationship active, personal, and lasting. This is our story: two cities, one friendship, and a growing community across the Atlantic.

United by music, culture & friendship
